Tomar-Re is a member of the Green Lantern Corps from the planet Xudar. He is the Green Lantern of sector 2813. He is 7ft tall and weighs 220lbs. His natural curiosity led him to thoroughly study the sacred Book of Oa. The immortal Guardians of the Universe have recognized his scholarship and appointed him archivist and protector of the Book.

Biography[]

Green Lantern[]

Tomar-Re greeted Hal Jordan when he arrived on Oa. He went on to teach Hal the basics of ring usage, including flight and creating constructs. Kilowog and Sinestro took over training Hal, to teach him how to use his ring to fight.

When Hal was fighting Parallax, he lured him towards the sun, killing him but was too weak to escape the sun's powerful gravitational pull. Sinestro, Kilowog and Tomar-Re arrived just in time to rescue him.

Green Lantern Power Ring: Tomar-Re uses the Green Lantern ring to carry out his duties as a Green Lantern, able to turn his thoughts into energy constructs.

Behind the scenes[]

Geoffrey Rush was initially unsure about voicing Tomar-Re, but he had previously voiced avian roles; he had played an owl in Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole and a pelican in Finding Nemo, and so when he saw an image of the birdlike Tomar-Re, he accepted the role. He had also noted that he had played various mentor roles before, so felt he would be more than comfortable with the role.
Geoffrey Rush was initially considered for the role of Sinestro before he was cast as Tomar-Re.
