Dean Arbagast was the broker of, among others, Gregory Belson. Belson had insider's knowledge on a new drug and put everything he had on GothCorp. But side effects were discovered, and the FDA put development on hold. Belson had come up 2.5 million dollars short, and Arbagast's accountants were pestering him to get the money. He tried desperately to reach the doctor, but to no effect. Batman and Robin looked up Arbagast in an investigation into Belson. At that moment, Belson called him. All Arbagast needed to do was prevent foreclosure for one more week, and he'd have the money by then.
