Biography[]
All-Star Superman[]
Bar-El and his wife Lilo were Kryptonian astronauts who, after years of being lost, followed the path of Kal-El's ship to Earth. Upon reaching Earth, they found no trace of Kal-El but discovered they had gained great abilities from Earth's yellow sun. They decided to try and rebuild Krypton on Earth. Superman returned to Earth and sought out his fellow Kryptonians. They called him weak, seeing themselves as superior to the humans and they fought, outnumbering and defeating Superman, cracking the moon in the process.
Superman escaped but was confronted by Bar-El and his wife at The Daily Planet. As they tried to goad Superman out Lilo became weak and fell from the sky. Superman caught her before she hit the ground and Bar-El too discovered he was no longer able to fly. They had been weakened when they passed through the Kryptonite astronaut field and it was slowly killing them.
Superman helped them both back to the Fortress of Solitude where he vowed to help save them. Bar-El knew the best option was to send them to the Phantom Zone. Superman agreed but told them it had to be their choice. He then sent them to the Phatom Zone using the Phantom Zone Projector so they would survive.
